The programs offer participants the opportunity to build meaningful connections with everyone they meet during their experiences abroad, as well as in their home countries and within the Youth Exchange community. Social entrepreneurship involves solving social problems with innovative solutions that are effective, efficient and sustainable. Social entrepreneurship is a venture that provides a product or service which adds social value to the community and is scalable throughout the country.<br /> <br /> <br /> This program is supported by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Jakarta and implemented by the Jolkona Foundation. Jolkona is a US-based non-profit organization with experience in developing programs targeting youth social entrepreneurship as well as building and delivering web-based donation models (<a href="http://www.jolkona.org/" target="_blank">http://www.jolkona.org</a>).<br /> <br /> <br /> This program is an intensive three-week US-based training program for 8 (eight) young Indonesian social entrepreneurs. In addition to the training program, the social entrepreneurs will get exposure to potential partners, investors, and funders.<br /> <br /> Program Goals:<br /> * Develop general entrepreneurship skills around pitching, creating business plans, working with effective marketing campaigns, and team building<br /> * Expose the participants to interesting models of social entrepreneurship and social enterprise structures<br /> * Foster job creation in Indonesia and increase social entrepreneurship activities in Indonesia<br /> * Build people-to-people exchanges and partnerships<br /> * Transfer best practices<br /> * Showcase entrepreneurs to potential investors in United States and Indonesia<br /> * Highlight successful social enterprises to motivate more Indonesian youths<br /> * Enhance the understanding of American culture<br /> <br /> <br /> The program's specific goal is to provide young Indonesians with tangible skills and opportunities to establish and grow their social enterprises.<br /> Program includes:<br /> * Access to successful serial entrepreneurs as 1:1 mentors<br /> * Workshops on storytelling, mission finding, strategy and demand generation<br /> * Tour of local nonprofits and businesses from various sectors<br /> * Meeting and pitching to investors and funders in the US<br /> * Attending social events to meet the influencers in the US<br /> * Visiting the scenic city of Seattle and enjoying home-stays with local hosts<br /> * Meeting and pitching to investors and funders after getting back to the home country organized by the US Department of State<br /> <br /> Candidates Criteria: Candidates will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, or gender. If selected, all your expenses related to travel, lodging, and program fees will be covered by the program.
